- 1/2 lime, juiced
- 1/2 cup ice (optional)
- 1/4 cup tart cherry juice
- 1/4 teaspoon magnesium citrate powder (see notes)
- 1/4 cup lime-flavored sparkling mineral water or flavored prebiotic soda, chilled
Instructions
- Juice the lime into a glass. Add ice, if using.
- Pour in the cherry juice and magnesium powder and stir gently to combine.
- Top the drink with your choice of flavored sparkling water or prebiotic soda, and stir once more.
- Serve immediately (preferably about 30-60 minutes before bedtime)
Notes
- Look for unsweetened tart cherry juice that is unsweetened.
- I like the Spindrift brand of naturally-flavored carbonated water, but you can use whatever brand you like. Just make sure there are no added sugars. You can also use regular plain sparkling mineral water, prebiotic soda, or other types of sugar-free flavored sodas, too.
- If magnesium citrate causes digestive discomforts including diarrhea, you can also try magnesium glycinate as an alternative. If magnesium is a new supplement for you, start small and work up. Depending on what type of magnesium powder you use, you can start with just 1/4 teaspoon and work up to a full scoop. Also, please note that the nutrition info for this recipe does not include magnesium powder since the nutrition data software doesn’t allow for supplements.
